CHARLES & KEITH is proud to announce its partnership with Copenhagen – based designer, Cecilie Bahnsen. The exclusive collaboration of shoes takes inspiration from traditional schoolwear, a recurring theme in her work. The collection features four classic styles that have been reinterpreted by Bahnsen and are beautifully finished with her signature couture-like touch.

CHARLES & KEITH is proud to announce its partnership with Copenhagen – based designer, Cecilie Bahnsen.
The exclusive collaboration of shoes takes inspiration from traditional schoolwear, a recurring theme in her work. The collection features four classic styles that have been reinterpreted by Bahnsen and are beautifully finished with her signature couture-like touch.
Known for her unique feminine take on fashion, Cecilie Bahnsen’s designs are defined by a timeless, relaxed but detailed style – her creations walk the line between couture and ready-to-wear. Before returning to Copenhagen and founding her eponymous label in 2015, she studied at the Royal College of Art in London and worked with couture houses in Paris. Her effortless clothing are characterised by unexpected and contrasting combinations as she brings together fine French fashion and Scandinavian design culture.

This special collection consists of four classic shoe styles – three Mary Jane designs and a distinctive mule. This unconventional line-up features patterns and colourways that debuted at the Cecilie Bahnsen Fall Winter 2019 runway show. In line with the designer’s signature aesthetic, the palette is dominated by black and white with a flourish of colour, as represented by the lemon yellow of the mules.
The collection was thoughtfully made, based on the concept of using less and giving materials a second life. A unique patchwork material was created with upcycled leftover fabrics from Bahnsen’s previous collections. For the hand-drawn embroidery quilted styles, a recycled satin was sourced and supplied by CHARLES & KEITH.
Cecilie Bahnsen has always been fascinated by school uniforms – which explains why she loves the Mary Jane design in the CHARLES & KEITH collection. The quality of a masculine-feminine contrast in the traditional Mary Jane appeals to the designer’s creative sensibility. For the ultra-feminine styles in this collection, CHARLES & KEITH’s classic shape was combined with Bahnsen’s artistic touch to create truly unique pieces.
